The past few weeks I been piloting a Code Club. I call it "Lunchtime Coders". The 5th graders enjoy coming in during recess and learning Apple's SWIFT Playground. The kids are enthusiastic and drop off their iPads before going to the cafeteria. Once the students are done eating they walk to my classroom and get started on coding. I invited all 5th graders who wanted to join and so far I have about 20 students that seem interested. SWIFT is easy for students to use and what I found is it allows for students to be self pacing. Let my students sit where ever they want in the classroom since it is during their lunchtime. This allows for the students to feel comfortable and collaboration happens naturally. I see the confidence building in my students as they progress in SWIFT.
